According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, citing “Kazhydromet,” temperatures will reach up to 40 degrees Celsius in several regions of Kazakhstan, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
According to “Kazhydromet,” on May 16–17, extreme heat is expected in the west and north of Almaty region, in the south and east of Zhetysu region, and in the south of Abai and East Kazakhstan regions — temperatures may rise to 40°C.
During these days, temperatures in Almaty are expected to reach up to 35°C, and in Konaev up to 37°C.
In Zhambyl region, the mercury may climb to 40°C, while in Kyzylorda region, extreme heat of 40–44°C is expected.
In Karaganda region, temperatures are expected to reach 35°C, and in Ulytau region — 35–37°C.
Due to the scorching heat, a high fire risk remains in these regions.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in Astana, Kokshetau, North Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, and Kostanay regions. Wind intensification and fog are predicted in these areas, with a possibility of hail in Pavlodar and Kostanay regions.
In the western regions — Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Aktobe, and Mangystau — strong winds and thunderstorms are expected.
Starting from May 18, the weather in the northern and central parts of the country will change dramatically — the air temperature will drop by 10–15°C, and heavy rain is forecasted. In particular, North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions are expected to experience rain, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds. In Astana, there might be a severe storm with rain that could turn into hail.
Similar weather changes are expected in Ulytau and Karaganda regions, where thunderstorms, heavy rain, and hail may also occur.
