The main session of the Unified National Testing (UNT) in Kazakhstan began on May 16 and will continue until July 7, according to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, as reported by “Adyrna.”
This year, applicants are allowed to take the test twice and can choose their best result to participate in the scholarship competition.
Nearly 216,000 applicants have registered for the test, which is 30,000 more than last year. Considering the two available attempts, the total number of applications has reached 399,000. The majority of participants — 75% — chose to take the test in Kazakh, 25% in Russian, and 266 participants in English.
The most popular combination of profile subjects is “Mathematics – Physics,” chosen by 16.5% of graduates. It is followed by “Biology – Chemistry” (15.6%) and “Mathematics – Informatics” (9.7%).
The testing is being held at 46 locations across the country. On the first day, 4,589 people are taking the exam, including 323 in Astana. The test consists of 120 questions and lasts four hours. Participants with special educational needs are given an additional 40 minutes.
To prevent rule violations, metal detectors have been installed at the entrances, and mobile signal jammers and video surveillance cameras have been set up in the testing rooms. After the exam, video recordings will be analyzed until October 31, and results will be annulled if any violations are found.
Certificates with UNT results will be available in participants’ personal accounts after the appeal process concludes. Appeals regarding test content must be submitted within 30 minutes after the exam ends.
