The Kazakh diaspora living in Afghanistan has sent an official appeal to Dimash Kudaibergen, the United Nations Global Goodwill Ambassador for Migration and a renowned artist, Adyrna reports.
The appeal emphasizes that Dimash Kudaibergen’s role as a UN Global Ambassador for Migration is a great source of hope for the diaspora. In this regard, Kazakhs in Afghanistan are requesting assistance on two key issues.
“Dear Dimash Kanatuly,
Today, nearly 5,000 Kazakhs live across various regions of Afghanistan. We are descendants of those who were forced to move to Afghanistan during the tragic and difficult periods of the 20th century in Kazakh history. Despite the severe conditions in this country, we have strived to preserve our Kazakh identity. However, our situation remains extremely difficult.
Our main dream is to return to our historical homeland and safely bring our children back into the Kazakh cultural environment,” the appeal states.
According to Asadolla Oimauyt, Chairman of the Afghan Kazakh Cultural Center, the personal data, lists, and required documents of nearly 5,000 people have already been fully prepared.
“Despite numerous appeals to the Kazakh authorities, this issue has not yet been resolved. Migration restrictions continue to prevent us from returning to our ancestral homeland. Your appointment as the UN Global Goodwill Ambassador for Migration gives us great hope.
Therefore, we respectfully ask for your assistance in the following matters:
• inclusion in a repatriation program;
• cultural and humanitarian support.
At present, the information, lists, and documents of 5,000 people are ready,” said the Chairman of the Afghan Kazakh Cultural Center.
The appeal was sent on December 25, 2025. Representatives of the diaspora hope that international organizations and relevant authorities will pay due attention to this issue.
