The Ministry of Defense made a statement regarding the recent increase in suicides in the country's armed forces, the correspondent of "Adirna" reported.
The agency noted that the Border Service of the NSC, the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are also responsible for the lives and health of subordinates.
"In peacetime, these forces are not part of the Armed Forces, and the Ministry of Defense does not control their security. Taking a desperate step like suicide is a great grief for the person's relatives and friends. The loss of a soldier is a heavy loss for commanders. Every incident in the armed forces is thoroughly investigated by the military police and other law enforcement agencies. The results of the investigation showed that suicide was not associated with military service in most cases. It should be taken into account that in the period before military service, there are various life situations that prompt military servicemen to act in this way.
"At the moment, on the initiative of the Ministry of Defense, with the participation of representatives of science, law enforcement agencies and non-governmental organizations, a comprehensive program "Save Life" aimed at minimizing irreparable losses in the military environment and preventing suicide is being developed," the ministry said.
