Public transport fares may increase in Almaty. The draft of the resolution of the Almaty administration was published on the "Open NKA" website, the "Adyrna" portal reports.

Currently, the fare for public transport in Almaty is set at 80 tenge when paying without cash. This rate was set in 2012 and has remained unchanged to date. Since 2017, the travel fee for cash payment has been fixed at 150 tenge.

"Over the past 11 years, the cost of all expenses borne by carriers has increased significantly. For example, diesel fuel cost 90 tenge, today it was 295 tenge (+328 percent), gas cost 33 tenge in 2007, and today it is 108 tenge (+327 percent) "At the same time, the same applies to other costs, including the cost of buses," said the Almaty City Administration.
