According to the local police service, since the beginning of the year, 333 traffic accidents involving mopeds have occurred in Almaty, as a result of which 14 people died and another 355 people were injured, the national portal "Adyrna" reported. Almaty PD shared information about this.
"One of the main dangers in the use of mopeds is their increased speed and power. If the moped has a cylinder volume of more than 50 cubic centimeters and a maximum design speed of more than 50 km per hour, it poses a serious danger on the road. Such mopeds can cause serious traffic accidents." - It is not surprising that car accidents occur that cause injuries and even death of road users. Currently, alternative forms of transportation have become popular among young people. Only according to the most conservative estimates, more than 50,000 of them drive on Almaty roads, accordingly, this factor has a negative impact on the level of traffic accidents," said Dauren Myrzakhanov, senior inspector of the Almaty Police Department for road traffic accidents.
According to him, the tragedies on the road continue. Last week, one of the fatal accidents happened in Almaty.
"The problem of using mopeds will not be solved in a day, to ensure safety on the roads of our city, the unity of efforts of moped owners and the general public is necessary. For this, first of all, I call on every passenger to understand his responsibility and citizens to strictly observe the traffic rules," concluded Myrzakhanov.
