Russian deputy Yevgeny Fedorov responded to the opinion of Kazakhstan deputy Marat Bashimov. In an interview with the NEWS.ru website, he said that the Kazakh deputy did not provide any legal evidence and he allowed himself to be insulted, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

According to Fedorov, with his statements, he did not try to question Russia's friendship with Kazakhstan, but simply stated a legal fact.

"Although the prominent Kazakh deputy said that he was a lawyer, he did not provide any legal evidence to prove his correctness in this matter. Instead, he started badmouthing me. Thus, it became clear that he had no legal evidence. "This is not about questioning Russia's friendship with Kazakhstan, my words were about a legal fact," Fedorov said.

The deputy explained that the republics illegally seceded from the Soviet Union due to non-observance of procedures under Law No. 1409. Fedorov noted that this also stemmed from international law after the Second World War.

Bashimov expressed his opinion after the Russian deputy commented on the verdict against the members of the People's Council group in Petropavlovsk in the case of separatism. The court found that the convicts denied the independence of Kazakhstan. In turn, Fedorov said that he considers the creation of the Kazakh state controversial. He called for restrictions on the country, such as a commitment not to join NATO.
