In an interview with "Egemen Kazakhstan", Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev expressed his opinion on the subject of nuclear power, which was often discussed last year, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
"Clean atomic energy is very important for Kazakhstan. This is a particularly important issue that directly affects the future of the country's economy. We take the first place in the world in terms of production of natural uranium. We also produce nuclear fuel components ourselves. That is why I pay special attention to the place of construction of nuclear power plant in the territory of our country. In the end, it is better to consider the issue of energy security from the point of view of real needs and opportunities, not geopolitical interest, and solve it on the basis of scientific research," he said.
