A shootout broke out between Kyrgyz and Tajik border guards on one of the disputed sections of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The Border Service of the State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan reports.
"On March 10, 2022, an incident of use of weapons took place on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border," the statement reads.
The shooting lasted about twenty minutes. No one was injured in the clashes on the Kyrgyz side. According to preliminary reports, some Tajiks were injured.
Representatives of the two countries are currently holding talks.
Recall that there have been several armed clashes on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The length of the border between the two countries is 980 km. More than 500 km of it have been identified, and the rest remain in dispute. Teskey district is an undefined section of the state border, but it is actually used by citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
