Today is the birthday of literature researcher, writer Mukhamedzhan Karataev. Mukhamedzhan Karataev, who served as executive secretary and chairman of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan, studied the problems of Kazakh literature and wrote various works. In 1938-1951, Karataev, who was a teacher at an educational institution, editor, deputy editor-in-chief, director, head of the department at the Institute of Literature and Art of the Kazakh SSR, was falsely accused and persecuted in 1951. He founded the Kazakh Soviet Encyclopedia, which was considered the first and largest universal encyclopedia in the Kazakh language. 12 volumes of the encyclopedia compiled by the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR were published in 1972-1978.
