The State Secretary reminded that a year ago the mechanism of direct election of village mayors started working in Kazakhstan. For example, since July last year, the heads of 1093 rural settlements have been elected, the national portal "Adyrna"writes.
"215 of them are self-represented, 116 of the newly elected are women," he said.
Karin added that the corps of village mayors was updated by 55.6%, which means 608 new village heads. According to him, a significant part of them had not worked in public service before. The support of the villagers was received by teachers, doctors, entrepreneurs, heads of local enterprises and farms.
Most of the new mayors are in Mangistau - 77.8% (14 out of 18), Karaganda - 77.2% (61 out of 79) and Zhambyl - 71% (51 out of 72) regions.
