The Ministry of Internal Affairs has proposed tightening control over the circulation of alcoholic products in the country. The issue was raised during a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the Prevention of Offenses, reports an Adyrna correspondent.
According to Minister Yerzhan Sadenov, 107,000 alcohol-related offenses were recorded in public places, and alcohol consumption bans were imposed on 11,000 individuals.
“To foster intolerance toward alcohol in society, we are engaging the public. So far, 402 settlements have chosen to reject alcohol,” the minister said.
This year alone, the police have prevented nearly 7,000 violations related to alcohol circulation. Entrepreneurs were fined a total of 370 million tenge, and 2,252 establishments had their licenses revoked.
The ministry also reported that some business owners continue to sell alcohol around the clock by registering licenses under other individuals or disguising themselves as bars. In response, the Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed tightening licensing requirements and restricting the sale of alcoholic products to limited, designated stores during official working hours only.
