Art enthusiast and teacher Serik Makhmutuly Ydyrysov has passed away, reports the national portal “Adyrna”.
He was born in the village of Zhanaqala in the Karmakshy district of Kyzylorda region. From a young age, Serik Ydyrysov had a deep passion for traditional Kazakh oral art such as zhyr and terme (epic poetry and didactic songs). He graduated from the Faculty of Philology at the Kyzylorda Pedagogical Institute and went on to teach music and language.
He began his professional career at School No. 185, where he formed an orchestra from village students and helped bring their talents to national attention. The school orchestra even appeared on television channels in Almaty.
Many people are now sharing their memories of Serik Ydyrysov on social media.
Poet Sabi Ansat wrote:
“I’ve just heard the news of my brother Serik Ydyrysov’s passing.
God has placed a heavy burden upon us.
Serik was a companion to me, to you, to friends, to colleagues — to the whole community.
Without Serik, without his jokes, his witty remarks that were as valuable as blessings, our celebrations feel joyless and our thoughts incomplete.
He was humble, always respectful to elders, and a true example of kindness.
His ever-smiling face was precious to us.
He was someone we all held dear.
But what can we do against the will of the Almighty?
I express my deepest condolences to Serik’s family and relatives, and pray for peace and comfort after this loss.
Farewell, my radiant-faced brother — dear Serikzhan.”
