Rustam Akhmetov, first deputy chairman of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition, expressed his opinion on the question of how realistic it was to limit food prices on the eve of the New Year at a briefing held at the Central Communications Service, "Adyrna" national portal reported with reference to Zakon.kz.
Rustam Akhmetov said that food prices would not increase until the New Year.
"Yes, it's true. The task set by the Prime Minister (Alikhan Smayilov. - Ed.) is not to exceed 20 percent by the end of the year. That is, now we have a growth of socially important food products of 19.6 percent. On the eve of the New Year, food - set the task that food prices should not rise sharply, now we are working on this task," said Rustam Akhmetov.
The speaker noted that the increase in prices was associated with a number of factors, including economic scandals and illegal actions of market actors. In addition, he said that consumers can file a complaint against those who rouse food prices illegally, with evidence.
"If the consumer has this information, he can apply to the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition," said Rustam Akhmetov.
