Today is International Day Against Nuclear Tests. The Semipalatinsk landfill, which was once opened by the policy of the Soviet Union and "ruined the fate of the whole humanity", was closed on August 29, 1991, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
Semipalatinsk test site, which became an "innocent site" for testing nuclear weapons, was opened on August 29, 1949. On August 12, 1953, the world's first thermonuclear (hydrogen) bomb exploded at this test site.
