The program of voluntary resettlement from the south to the north, which has been operating in the country since 2017, has not produced any results, said Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbaev. He hopes that new measures to encourage people will be taken into account in the new law on migration, which is being considered in the Senate.
"It should be noted that the maintenance of socio-demographic and economic imbalance in some regions is one of the serious problems. Today, the population is growing significantly in the southern and western regions and megacities. And in the northern regions, on the contrary, there is a downward trend," Ashimbaev said.
