The head of state Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on the Great Day of Ulys, reported the national portal "Adyrna" referring to the official website of Akorda.
In his congratulatory speech, he spoke about the significance of Nauryz holiday:
"Congratulations to Nauryz, the great day of the nation! This is our ancestral tradition. Today we are all welcoming our new year as one country and one people. Az Nauryz is a symbol of renewal and revival. Since ancient times, our ancestors celebrated Ulys Day as the beginning of the year. Now Az Nauryz has become a national holiday common to all people. All our people, regardless of their nationality and religion, look forward to it and celebrate it together," said the president.
