President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev has turned 72, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
According to the President’s press service, no official or celebratory events are planned in honor of his birthday.
“The President does not celebrate this day, and no official or festive events will be held,” the official statement says.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was born on May 17, 1953, in the city of Almaty. His father, Kemel Tokayev (1923–1986), was a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and one of the founders of the detective genre in Kazakh literature. His mother, Turar Shabdarbayeva (1931–2000), worked at the Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages in Almaty.
