The United Kingdom has further expanded its list of sanctions against Russia. The new measures target organizations supporting Russia’s military machine, energy export operations, and information warfare. This was announced on May 20 by the country’s Foreign Ministry, according to Adyrna’s correspondent.
The sanctions come ahead of the European Union’s announcement of its 17th package of sanctions against Russia.
According to the ministry, the list now includes 14 more employees of a social engineering agency accused of conducting disinformation campaigns. This time, the UK has also imposed restrictions on 18 shipowners. In addition, several financial institutions have been added to the list, including the St. Petersburg Currency Exchange and Russia’s state Deposit Insurance Agency.
The UK also plans, along with its international partners, to lower the price cap on Russian oil to $60 per barrel.
It is worth noting that all financial assets of those under sanctions within UK jurisdiction will be frozen. UK citizens and companies are prohibited from providing any financial services, dealing with their property, or offering fiduciary services to these individuals or entities.
