Russia and Ukraine have completed a prisoner exchange under the “1,000 for 1,000” format, reports Adyrna.
The exchange process lasted for three days. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on May 25, both sides exchanged 303 individuals.
“At present, the Russian servicemen have been relocated to the territory of the Republic of Belarus. They are receiving the necessary psychological and medical assistance,” the statement said.
According to official sources, no further exchange phases are planned.
“The exchange under the ‘1,000 for 1,000’ formula took place between May 23 and 25, in accordance with the Russian-Ukrainian agreements reached in Istanbul on May 16,” the ministry added.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the prisoner exchange was the only outcome of the 90-minute meeting held in Istanbul.
