At the Sharjah Masters 2025 super tournament held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kazakhstani chess player Bibisara Assaubayeva fulfilled the third and final norm required to earn the title of International Grandmaster, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
According to the press service of the Committee for Sports and Physical Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bibisara not only placed among the top 30 out of 64 participants but also achieved the best result among the female players. She outperformed Women’s Grand Prix winner Zhu Jiner and Olympic champion Divya Deshmukh.
In this tournament, Bibisara surpassed the 2500 rating mark, meeting the key requirement for the grandmaster title.
Now, all that remains is for the FIDE Council to officially approve the title at its upcoming meeting. With this achievement, Bibisara Assaubayeva is set to become the second female grandmaster in Kazakhstan’s history, following Zhansaya Abdumalik.
