As part of a prisoner exchange on the Poland–Belarus border, a previously detained Kazakh citizen has been released and returned to the country, reports the Adyrna National Portal.

This was announced by Presidential Press Secretary Aibek Smadiyarov on his Telegram channel.

According to official information, the Kazakh citizen detained in Poland was released on April 28. It was stated that diplomatic negotiations at the state level contributed to his release.

The statement noted that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has been consistently working to protect the rights and interests of Kazakh citizens abroad.

“It is known that the Kazakh citizen who had previously been detained in the Republic of Poland was released on April 28 this year.

This result was achieved thanks to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s consistent efforts to protect Kazakh citizens, including our compatriots living abroad, and their rights and interests.

The Head of State recently held a telephone conversation with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and expressed gratitude for the constructive cooperation between the two countries during this difficult situation.

In addition, the President of Kazakhstan considers it appropriate to thank Russian President Vladimir Putin for contributing to achieving a positive outcome.

The Head of State will also send a letter of appreciation to Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk for the Polish side’s thoughtful decision regarding the situation,” the statement said.

It is worth noting that earlier, it was reported that a Kazakh citizen had been detained in Poland on suspicion of having ties with a foreign intelligence service. Polish security authorities stated that he might have been collecting information related to NATO and allied structures.
