Mayor of Turkestan region Umirzak Shokeyev submitted his resignation. The information was confirmed by the press service of the regional administration, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
According to the press service, the governor of the region wrote the application on August 24. The main decision will be made by the President.
It should be noted that on July 13, the court found Dauren Makhazhanov, the former mayor of Kentau, guilty of bribery and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
It should be noted that at the briefing held at the Central Communications Service, Umirzak Shokeev said "I am ready to resign if the crime of Kentau mayor is proven."
In February 2019, Umirzak Shokeyev was appointed as the governor of Turkestan region.
