Aibol Bekmukhambetov, ex-president of Almaty airport, was sentenced to eight years in prison

The former president of Almaty airport Aibol Bekmukhambetov was sentenced to eight years in prison, "Adyrna" national portal reports with reference to KazTag.
On Thursday, information was confirmed in the Almaty court that Bekmukhambetov was convicted under Clause 2 of Part 4 of Article 189 (Acquisition or embezzlement of someone else's property entrusted to him).

Kuanysh Tumyshev, the former head of the Aviation Fuel Service, was also sentenced to eight years in prison.

The court made a decision to collect material damages in the amount of 913,165 US dollars or 417,891,698 tenge from Bekmukhambetov and Tumyshev in favor of Almaty airport.

A period of 1 month is given to voluntarily compensate the damage.

The defendants pleaded not guilty, and Bekmukhambetov noted that his criminal prosecution was carried out by order, and Raushan Sagdieva, a partner of ex-president Nursultan Nazarbayev's son-in-law Timur Kulybayev, was behind it.
