In Kazakhstan, 70% of electricity is produced at coal plants, which have a very high level of wear and tear. Gulmira Mursalova, deputy director of the Department of Nuclear Power and Industry of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, stated this at a public discussion on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan in Astana.
He said some of these stations should be decommissioned within the next 10 years. At the same time, the amount of electricity consumption in the country is increasing year by year. For this reason, a special plan was approved by 2035. According to this plan, 26,000 MW stations will be launched in the next decade. Of course, it also includes renovation of existing stations, construction of new stations is also planned.
