The first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian States is taking place in the city of Turkestan

The first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian States is being held in the city of Turkestan, the national portal "Adyrna" writes.

Delegations of the Chambers of Parliament of the countries of the region are participating in the large-scale event. At the Forum, which will last for two days, they will discuss the priority directions of expanding inter-parliamentary relations and the actual issues of developing a single spiritual and cultural space.

Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev said in his speech that such meetings are of great importance for further strengthening of relations between Central Asian countries. The Speaker of the Chamber also mentioned that the communication between the Heads of State of the countries in the region is at a high level. He also noted that representatives of the Parliament should contribute to comprehensive and active development of mutual cooperation.

The Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tajik and Turkmen delegations participating in the forum were led by the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Shakiyev, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda and the Chairman of the Majlisi of Turkmenistan Gurbanmurat Ashirov.

During the event, deputies will discuss the issue of strengthening comprehensive strategic cooperation of Central Asian countries and the role of Parliaments in this process. At the same time, the participants of the forum pay attention to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation based on the common historical and spiritual heritage.

According to the results of the forum, the declaration of Turkestan will be adopted. The document shows the prospects of further development of inter-parliamentary relations aimed at expanding economic interaction and forming a unified cultural and historical space of Central Asia, distinguished by its own uniqueness.

It should be noted that the decision to hold the said Inter-Parliamentary Forum was made at the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States held in July last year.
