Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was announced by Akorda, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
Kassym-Zhomart Tokaev had a meeting with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his working visit to Ankara. The head of state expressed gratitude to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his hospitality and respectful reception.
First of all, the head of state expressed his condolences to the people of Turkey, who suffered from the devastating earthquake.
"I express my condolences to the relatives of the deceased, to you and to the entire Turkish people. Turkey is a country that has always been able to face difficulties. I believe that you will overcome this problem thanks to your rich experience and national unity," said Kassym-Jomart Tokaev.
The President noted that one should always be prepared for threats and emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in the field of emergency situations. In this regard, he said that he considers the summit on the topic of "Disaster and emergency management, humanitarian aid" to be a very necessary event.
"During a natural disaster, it is very important for states to help each other. We saw this again this time. When the brotherly country faced difficulties, the Turkic people showed an excellent example of unity and compassion. "Kazakhstan immediately reached out to the Turkish brothers," the Head of State said.
At the same time, the President said that Turkey was one of the main trade partners of Kazakhstan.
"Turkey is one of the five main trade partners of Kazakhstan. Last year, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 33 percent and reached 6.3 billion dollars. This is the result of systematic work. There is an opportunity to export Kazakhstan's goods to the Turkish market in large quantities," said the Head of State.
Kassym-Zomart Tokayev said that he was ready to support the projects of Turkish investors in Kazakhstan. Also during the meeting it was said that the Trans-Caspian international transport route, called "Middle Corridor", will play a very important role. The Kazakhstani side declared that it is ready to implement common infrastructure projects for the development of this potential transport and logistics route.
In turn, Recep Tayyip thanked Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev for accepting Erdogan's invitation and coming to Ankara.
"I'm glad you came to Turkey. 49,000 people died in the earthquake. You were one of the first world leaders to call at such a critical moment. The rescuers of Kazakhstan participated in the rescue of our injured citizens. We felt true brotherhood," said the President of Turkey.
