The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of neighboring Uzbekistan has approved a new law on the procedure for holding elections and referendums in the republic, "Adyrna" correspondent reports.
The Senate announced that it has approved the introduction of a mixed system of elections to representative bodies in Uzbekistan, that is, majoritarian and proportional.
At the forty-seventh plenary session of the Senate, senators discussed and approved the Constitutional Law "On making changes and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at further improving the procedure for holding elections and referendums".
