The United Nations has announced the number of civilian casualties in Ukraine, the national portal Adyrna reports citing Tengrinews.kz.

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said on its official Twitter account that at least 227 civilians had been killed and 525 injured in Ukraine since the war began on February 24.

"Since the beginning of hostilities against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, from 4 am to midnight on March 1, 2022, 752 people have been killed or injured in Ukraine, including 227 people (31 men, 25 women, 6 boys and 3 girls, as well as 6 children and 156 adults of unknown sex) and 525 wounded (42 men, 33 women, 7 girls and 2 boys, as well as 19 children and 422 adults of unknown sex) ", - stated in the document.

The number of civilian casualties was caused by heavy artillery, rocket launchers and air strikes, and explosive devices.

The UNHCR believes that the actual number is much higher, and this information needs to be further confirmed. It is difficult to get information from some places where hostilities continue.
