Deputies of the faction "People's Party of Kazakhstan" at a meeting of the Majilis of Parliament proposed to name the Almaty International Airport after Dinmukhamed Kunayev, the national portal "Adyrna" reports.
"As a continuation of the President's initiative to rename the city of Kapchagai, we support the initiative of Almaty residents and propose to name the Almaty International Airport after Dinmukhamed Akhmetovich Kunayev," MP Erlan Smailov said at the plenary session of the Majilis.
The appeal was sent to Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar.
