The head of the Iranian Chess Federation, Hassan Tamini, said that Sara Khadem, who took part in the world championship of rapid and blitz chess in Almaty, did not go to the competition on behalf of Iran,  the "Adyrna" national portal wrote.

Such a statement was made after the chess player went to the tournament without hijab.

"Khadem went to the championship not through the Iranian Federation, but on his own and at his own expense. He did not represent our country. But we did not expect such an action from this chess player, because he participated in previous tournaments according to all standards," said Hasan Tamini.

It should be noted that in Iran women are required by law to wear hijab.
