The freed ex-mayor of Kentau was sent back to the colony

Dauren Makazhanov, the freed former mayor of Kentau, was sent back to the colony. He was refused an appeal to change the unpaid part of the sentence to a lighter one. The courts of Almaty region wrote about this on their Facebook page, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

Based on the information, today Makazhanov was taken to "Institution No. 64" of the Committee of the Criminal-Executive System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to further serve his sentence. Also, according to the agency, earlier the Konaev city court issued a decision to change the unpaid part of Makazhanov's sentence to a lighter punishment. However, the Almaty regional court annulled this decision.

The case of Dauren Makazhanov, akim of Kentau, was arrested in February 2022. He is accused of receiving a bribe of 98.5 thousand US dollars from the director of the LLP engaged in repairing highways through his trusted persons.
