An unusual competition took place in Hungary. An international grave-digging championship was held in the city of Szekszárd, Adyrna reports, citing Shot.

The event was organized by the Hungarian Association of Grave Diggers. According to them, there is nothing frightening or odd about such contests. On the contrary, they highlight the importance of this profession and even help attract young people to cemetery work.

“This is hard labor that requires strength and skill. Such tournaments restore respect for our work,” the participants said.

The rules of the championship may seem simple at first glance: to dig a pit of specific dimensions. However, victory does not depend on effort alone. Everything matters here — proper strategy, coordinated teamwork, quality, and the ability to work as quickly as possible. The teams competed in front of spectators, with fans openly cheering for their favorites.

It is worth noting that similar competitions have previously been held in Russia.
