The first nuclear power plant will be built in Zhambyl district of Almaty region. It officially came into force today, February 25, according to the national portal “Adyrna.”
The government decree was adopted on December 30, 2024.
It should be noted that a referendum on the construction of the nuclear power plant was held in 2024. A total of 7,820,204 people voted, with 5,561,937 supporting the construction.
Independent observers stated that the referendum was not conducted transparently. They reported various violations and obstacles to their work.
