The United States and Japan have imposed new sanctions on Russia over the situation in Ukraine. This was reported to Reuters, according to the national portal Adyrna.
The United States has imposed new sanctions on Russia's technology sector. The country's Finance Ministry has imposed sanctions on 13 individuals and 21 organizations, including Mikron, Russia's largest microelectronics manufacturer.
Among those targeted are Moscow-based Sernia Engineering and equipment manufacturer Sertal. The Finance Ministry has accused them of illegally purchasing equipment and technology that could be used for civilian purposes in Russia's defense sector.
Japanese authorities have also banned the assets of four Russian organizations, three Russian individuals and six North Korean individuals for their involvement in weapons projects in North Korea, Reuters reported.
According to the Japanese Foreign Ministry, the list includes Russians Alexander Gaeva, Alexander Chasovnikov and Roman Alar, as well as Apollo, RK Breeze, Zil-M and Parsek. They are accused of involvement in North Korea's nuclear and ballistic projects. All their assets in Japan will now be banned, the ministry said.
Earlier, Japan blocked Russian capital and banned the issuance of visas to Russian citizens. In addition, the authorities are considering imposing sanctions on high-ranking Belarusian government officials.
