The fate of the Kazakhs at the beginning of the last century, the victims of political repressions and the years of famine, were left unburied in the steppe. History and sources testify to it. There are many such cemeteries in the Shu region. The land where the Kazakh Khanate was founded is the Shu River, which dates back to those times and originates in the land of Kargyz. Mountains, hills, plains, rushing rivers and lakes are the witness of many stories. Yes, the famine in the Kazakh lands began in the autumn of 1929, but in the Shu valley in the summer and autumn of 1932 this turn intensified, and those who were looking for food were died.

Saint Zhundibai, who witnessed two centuries, lived in Shu at that time. According to sources, Alimkhan Akhatayev, a native of the village of Belbasar in the region, said that Saint Zhundibai was born in 1834 near Lake Tasotkel and died in 1929 at the age of 85.  Saint Zhundibai said: “Twice in this century there will be repressions, twice the people will starve. There will be human losses. There will be famine and war. Language and religion are corrupted. Peoples that our ancestors did not see are moving to Shu. Black iron speaks, the surface of the earth is barbed wire. At this point, the Shu River closes and turns into a large lake. It will be a big city, ”he said. It seems that the saint's words did not change.
