According to Polina Lyon, director of the sustainable development department of Rosatom Corporation, Rosatom is discussing with Uzbekistan the possibility of using the "dry cooling tower" technology (a modern device for cooling water) in the project of building a nuclear power plant, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
"In Uzbekistan, we are currently negotiating with our potential customers. In fact, the water situation in Uzbekistan is very bad, as there are predictions that the country will run out of water by 2050. We discuss with them a project with dry cooling towers. This is a very complex technological solution. In fact, the issue of minimal water consumption for nuclear energy is also very important on the agenda," he said during the event of the Russian Pavilion of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28).

"Dry cooling tower" technology assumes that there is no evaporation of water during the cooling process of the reactor.
