174 people died in Kenya due to torrential rains and floods. This was announced by the Xinhua agency, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

According to the information, Isaac Mwaura, an official representative of the Kenyan government, told reporters in Nairobi that the Tana River region and Lamu region in the southeast of the country were flooded.

"In the last three days, 6 people were buried under the landslide. The National Emergency Management Center continues to closely monitor the flood situation in cooperation with competent institutions and local executive bodies to mitigate the consequences of recent events. Since October, incessant rain caused by the Al-Nino phenomenon has affected 38 out of 47 districts and caused severe flooding. Isaac Mwaura said the Tana River region and Lamu region in the south-east of the country were the worst affected by the floods. "Emergency relief and public assistance work continues in these regions," the report said.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Meteorological Service predicts that the abnormal weather that started in October will continue until January 2024.
